‘You make all things work together for my good”

Back to Billericay to stay with my hosts for the week while we spend some more time in the Viz-a-Viz office! This week we are preparing and recording some tracks which can be used on this years Taste album. So far this year we have written two new songs, and we have adapted some older Taste songs to make them a little bit different. The recording is going well and it is a new experience for me !

Bonfire night fell cleverly on to a Tuesday night, which meant we had the chance to do a firework night at Tuesday club with the children. We wrapped up warm as we were going to be spending some time outside watching a little firework display! For the craft we used tissue paper to make a bonfire which they were able to decorate and then light up with toy tea lights. We turned out the lights so they could see how they lit up in the dark and it really excited them to see their coloured tissue paper glowing in the dark! We then had a firework show by Gary and Jake; there were lots of ‘ooooohs’ and ‘aaaaahhhhs’ as the pretty colours went into the sky. The children loved it, as we brought out the hot dogs and got the fire burning for them to toast their marshmellows. I really enjoy helping at Tuesday club with Sally and the other leaders; I am looking forward to getting a better relationship with the young people as I have only been there for two weeks so far.

On Wednesday we spent more time recording in the studio. We also had a bible study with Dave Turner, looking at the character of Joshua and in particular Joshua Chapter 1. It was a powerful morning and I felt God say to me Romans 8:28.

” And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

I think it is really hard to keep going through the tough times. Often when we are on the road glorifying God through impacting other peoples lives; when we come back into reality, the Devil tries to intervene and knock us down. On a daily basis I have new things thrown at me which are trying to distract my focus away from God. But God reminds us to stand firm through these times.

“Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God your God, is with you every step you take.”

-Joshua 1:9

These verses really tied into what we were looking at in the Youth Discipleship group on Wednesday evening. Each evening we have been watching a video clip which shows a few testimonies on a topic, followed by a bible study. On this evening we looked at standing firm in our schools and workplaces and discussed how hard we find it being a Christian in our day to day lives. We face so many temptations at our age in whatever situation we are in, and it was very encouraging to hear how these guys were getting on in their schools and to know that they all look out for each other.
